Overview

Judas Iscariot, also known as Ji Ending, is an experimental genetically-engineered clone created by Bob Page. They serve as a prototype augmented solider (tertiary unit) for Majestic 12, similar to what was originally planned for Paul Denton (primary unit) JC Denton (secondary unit).

Appearance

Judas was created as a biological female; however, as they identify as male, he is addressed in masculine or gender-neutral way. They were engineered specifically to have the desirable traits of both sexes.

He is described as physically attractive, androgynous and doll-like; displaying a combination of both feminine and masculine features. He also binds his chest, hiding away some of his more curvaceous features, as he doesn't feel comfortable presenting as female due to past trauma. He also uses his voice-modulator to render his voice in a lower and more masculine tone.

Judas has exemplary physical fitness, as he has been trained in martial arts. His body is specialized for infiltrating enemy territory and sabotaging equipment. On his back, there are three circular sockets that enable him to connect with most machines.

Judas wears sunglasses, like JC Denton, hiding his augmented eyes, which shine constantly, becoming brighter as Judas uses augmentations related to them. Some other agents describe him as creepy due to his habit of stealthily staring at others. The same goes for the nanites under his skin, they are not usually visible except for the lines and dots that glow when in action. To cover them, he wears tactical clothing covering most of his body under a large dark trench coat.

The sides of Judas' hair are usually blonde, though sometimes is seen with it dyed blue.

When Judas is in his 40's, he starts preferring a white trench coat with a hood, specifically because the angelic appearance helps him feel "cleansed" after surviving past trauma that made him feel "impure" and "contaminated". The white coat offers more than just aesthetic and symbolic appeal, as the back opens like two wings as he lands from tall buildings using his Icarus Landing System.

Personality

Judas is bright and enthusiastic, eager to prove themselves not only to their mentors but to the Denton brothers. He is shy, yet friendly, with a naïve trust in authority, though that is likely due to successful indoctrination rather than innocence.

As Walton Simons initially serves as Judas' legal guardian and mentor, Judas idolises Simons, expressing great devotion and obedience. His reverence towards Simons, as well as how he is treated by him, makes him imagine himself as a conscious doll rather than a person with agency. Simons exploits Judas' loyalty by entering into a romantic relationship with him that mixes indoctrination, paternalism and sexual exploitation. Judas shows both admiration and longing for Simons, while Simons projects his feelings for his ex-husband, Page, onto Judas.

Expectedly, this kind of upbringing and abuse from his initial caregivers ends up causing a great deal of trauma for Judas, who carries these emotional scars beneath their cheerful exterior.

Aside from his upbringing and general temperament, Page also implanted Judas with the traumatic memories of a war criminal upon being fully inaugurated into a MJ12 soldier, ignoring Simon's concerns about how this would later affect Judas. This, in addition to his pre-existing trauma, left Judas vulnerable to instability and profound emotional and mental damage that cannot be healed easily.

Ji's bedroom

When in missions, Judas prefers to use a non-lethal approach as he considers himself a pacifist. However, he has no problem using lethal force in crucial situations if needed.

Over time he becomes more stoic and introverted; still enjoying the company of others (as long as they aren't loud or obnoxious), but not talking too much unless the subject of discussion interests him.

After the collapse of MJ12 and his subsequent recuperation, his personality changes even more drastically due to having a mood-regulator installed. The mood-regulator works on the brain much like anti-depressants and anti-psychotics do. This causes him to come off as unnervingly calm when spoken to. However, he does have to worry about his battery going too low, as he risks experiencing traumatic flashbacks about his past.

Despite his calm demeanour, he can be forced into a violent emotional expression if his children are threatened. His fighting style becomes unconventional, to confuse his enemies, and unlike his past self, he has no problem using lethal force to get information or to intimidate people.

History

While Judas is a clone, their genetic origin is ambiguous. Judas' DNA is a mixture of that of Numair Abdelmalek and possibly Walton Simons, which were both, at some point, Bob Page's lovers. While this suggests Bob may have been protective and caring towards Judas--considering they are literally the manifestation of the love he had towards those other men--he seems to view Judas as little more than a tool.

Timeline

2052

While Page and Simons were discussing the progress of the augmentation progress, Page refers to Judas (Judas' codename) as the "tertiary unit" and appoints Simons as their legal guardian.

Once Judas was released and prepared, he was sent off to the UNATCO training facility to prepare for his final exam. Paul Denton and Dr. Jaime Reyes accompany them, and introduce them to JC. The two recall that they went to school together in Switzerland, although it's uncertain whether that was a real memory the two shared or just implanted. Already, despite Judas' friendly demeanour, JC could sense something was a bit off about them.

Once it was time for Judas' entrance exam, Simons supervised the tasks that Judas had to show proficiency in. With ease, he demonstrates lockpicking, stealth, multitool use; and shows off some of his augmentations such as fireproof skin and a unique prototype that allows him to crawl vertically up walls. As a result, JC and Paul are both astonished by his abilities, and Page subsequently boasts about the success of his experimental technology.

Judas completes the trial enthusiastically, beaming under the praise of his creators. JC feels even more uneasy about this display, especially Simon's unsettling manner towards Judas. JC's trial was next, and as expected, he too passes the exam with flying colors. In the aftermath, the Dentons and Judas try to socialise , however Judas is soon taken away by a mysterious group of soldiers, who later turn out to be working for Majestic 12.

Paul later organised a small celebration for the new UNATCO recruits, with JC and Judas both being invited. Judas says something unusual in response; that he first needed to attend "business" for Simons, and blushed when pressed about it, implying that they were fulfilling secret duties or even being abused behind closed doors. Paul and JC notice Judas' nervousness about the situation, but accept their explanation for declining.

Meanwhile, Page and Simons have another conference, this time discussing Judas' future. Simons seemed concerned, despite taking on an abusive role in Judas' life, when he learnt that Judas was implanted with the memories of a war criminal. Page dismissed Simons' concerns, and reminds him that Judas will become the perfect soldier, and his ultimate fate is to merge into their AI project once it is completed.

Following the events of Area 51's destruction, Judas was forcibly hospitalized. Cranial augments were installed to control his moods, in attempt to mitigate his PTSD that was developed due to the abused he received during his work at UNATCO. He was then retrofitted with a prosthetic leg to replace the one he lost when trying to escape the Area 51 base. Only after years of being in a psych ward, was he considered stable enough to leave.

2057

In 2057, after years spent without contact with the outside world, he researched what he knew to track down his siblings--Paul and JC--through use of a DNA sample and a contact that specialises in finding people. When he reached the destination provided by his contact, to his surprise a couple greet him. Judas tries to ask them about the Dentons, however, they don't seem to know anything about the individuals he's looking for.

Suddenly, the building was attacked by terrorists, who must've been following the same trail. The couple die in the attack, but Judas was able to save their two children. The children end up being Alex and Alexandra Denton, which explains the DNA similarities.

Judas takes it upon himself to adopt the twin clones, raising them as his own children.

2072

After years of searching, Ji finally manages to find Paul and JC after learning about JC's imperfect merge with Helios. He lives with guilt of not having been around to stop it when it had occurred.

Ji decides to help them by finding a way to take JC out of the machine and replace him--with himself--as he was the one who was originally engineered to be compatible with it to begin with. He hoped by making this sacrifice, he would avoid any future disasters and catastrphohies from ensuing and guide the human race to a better place.

Trivia

• "Mr. Ending" is just their codename; when asked about its meaning, Judas answers it's because "I've put an end to many stories".
• While Judas does his best to see the bright side of things, he still is a pessimist.
• His favourite cuisines are Mexican and Chinese--and anything spicy.
