Overview

Jacynthia Levert is an IT Technician and Sysadmin that worked in the Sarif Industries IT department between 2025 and 2028. She was hired along with her best friend Keane Grimford after Sarif Industries upscaled to a large office complex, requiring hundreds of new employees to fill the expanding job roles.

She also acted as a general assistant to the entire IT team due to her flexible skillset and became close friends with Frank Pritchard, who served only as the IT Manager at the time, until he was later promoted to Chief Cybersecurity Officer and relocated into his own private office on the 1st Floor.

Personality

Jacy is empathic, loyal, and idealistic, grounded in a core belief that love and compassion give purpose to life. However, this emotional clarity is both her strength and vulnerability, as she also struggles with anxiety, isolation, and a deep sense of unworthiness that often leads her to neglect her own needs.

Outwardly warm and playful, Jacy conceals profound internal struggles: depression, fear of abandonment, and in her darkest moments, suicidal ideation. She bears this pain quietly, unwilling to burden others, especially Frank, the man she develops a deep but secret affection for during her time working at Sarif Industries. Her fear of rejection, or perhaps her desire to protect him from emotional responsibility keeps her silent, confiding only in Keane.

Frank, in contrast, is emotionally immature, Riddled with fear of vulnerability, intimacy, and emotional dependency. Their opposing emotional worldviews frequently placing them at odds. While Jacy craves connection and reassurance, Frank recoils from it, unable to trust. Their dynamic is defined by this friction; his fear of closeness clashes with her fear of being left behind.

Over time, Jacy’s unreciprocated love festers into a kind of quiet, obsessive devotion; reverent and tragic, like a melancholic nun revering a distant, indifferent god. When Frank leaves to pursue his own path after the collapse of Sarif Industries, her mental and physical health decline sharply. Keane, who remains by her side, urges her to move on, but her stubborn loyalty refuses to let go.

Yet, Jacy is not defined by passivity. When she learns of Frank’s possible capture following the Palisade Breach, her grief becomes purpose. She mobilizes her skills and contacts, confronts danger head-on, and takes decisive action to uncover the truth and plan his daring rescue; proving that, while love once made her suffer, it also gave her purpose and strength.

History

Jacy was raised in England by a multicultural working class family. She wasn’t necessarily well off, but she and her family never struggled to fulfil their basic needs. For most of her adult life, found it very difficult to maintain her mental health. Most of it stemmed from having a problematic home life as a child, and being bullied at school. For years she suffered very badly with social anxiety, even well into her 20’s.

When she decided to follow her interests and study Sound Engineering in university, she tried to mitigate her social anxiety through self-imposed exposure therapy, specifically joining student societies (also known as extra-curricular clubs). After heading to a couple club meetings, she was going to quit as she felt way too shy to participate, until she eventually managed to befriend another student, studying Computer Science. His name was Keane Grimford, and like Jacy, he also wasn’t the most socially astute person, but by supporting one another both were able to come out of their shells a bit. Despite coming from completely different backgrounds, surprisingly they shared many overlapping interests, such as gaming, psychology and philosophy, writing fantasy, and comic books.

It was through Keane, she realised she had a pretty good grasp on computing technology. Unfortunately, that meant that she felt as if she made a terrible mistake with her choice of study, but she was determined to see it through to the end.

When Keane left for Washington, D.C. to complete his final academic year, Jacy had to learn to deal with everything by herself again, but this time more confident and assured than ever before. She completed her studies, and not long after, she convinced herself to follow Keane into the unknown, leaving her past behind her to look upon the horizon of a bright future.

Keane and Jacy lived for a short period of time in New York, which would normally be impossible if they were alone, but combining their salaries they were able to afford the rent. With some work and help from Keane, Jacy eventually adapted her technical skills in sound engineering to work better with general electronics and computers, which landed her a job as a field technician for a telecoms company, while Keane became a support analyst for a pharmaceutical company.
