Overview

Lovelace is an nano-augmentation specialist, scientist and doctor for UNATCO. Diagnosed with Hermansky Pudlak Syndrome from birth, she was a prodigy child that was sought out by UNATCO immediately after leaving college. After JCs defection, she joined him in the fight against MJ12.

Appearance

Lovelace is an 5’1” albino woman with mid-length curly white hair and pale red eyes. She wears a slightly oversized standard white labcoat that reaches her knees, tucked in loose beige button down with long sleeves, sand-brown pants and khaki colored work shoes. She is commonly seen with an offset-handle dark blue cane with teal markings.

Personality

Overtly courteous and softhearted, Lovelace is a very determined, empathetic and commiserative individual towards others, in and outside of UNATCO.

One of high emotional intelligence due to having to grow up quickly because of her illness and situation as a child, she is very observant and perceptive, to the point of becoming extremely guarded about her personal life and how her illness is progressing, especially around the UNATCO members who are trigger happy.

She doesn’t want others to look down or treat her differently due to her illness, having a defensive complex about it to where she will deny help at the detriment of herself and keeps others at a distance as to not worry them, inadvertently causing more issues in the long run with a self sacrificial nature. She doesn’t want to be a burden to those she cares for, knowing that her time will likely be up before theirs due to her illness and has a firm belief she will die sooner than later.

Though, despite her reservations towards others, Lovelace holds an idealistic view towards humanity, freewill and choices. She believes that humans are their choices and that people, by default, are capable of choosing their own paths and it’s not a matter of nature vs nurture, or being raised or made for a specific ideal. She's hopeful that most people can be good through their actions if they just tried, though has rational boundaries involving such an outlook and it is not extended to those who have continuously hurt or broken the trust of others and herself.

Given UNATCO and the places she’s worked in, while she prefers non-violent methods, she has a conditional view of pacifism and believes reasonable force is necessary, that violence does have a place for defensive purposes.

Timeline

March 18th, 2026

She would be born to Konrad Lovelace, an MJ12 scientist, and ‘Adaline’, a spy who was once on the UNs terrorist watchlist with connections to the Tong family after a tryst. Given that she was born with the same disorder he had and that she would be in constant danger, Adaline gave her to her father shortly after her birth before disappearing.

2032-2047

Her father died due to his disorder, leaving her alone at the age of 6. She’d then be placed in the underfunded and understaffed Child Protective Services located in America, though constantly went in and out of unsteady homes. During this time, Gary Savage used his status to fund her schooling from the shadows, trying to set up his old colleagues' daughter for success whilst keeping away from her life. She graduated from high school at the age of 17, and proceeded to quickly earn multiple degrees whilst in college.

2048-2051

Freshly out of college, UNATCO picked Lovelace up quickly, her skills in nano-augmentation being the driving factor. She was then placed underneath Dr. Jaime Reyes at the age of 22 and under his tutelage became an official nano-augmentation specialist. She’d become allies with Alex Jacobson, Paul Denton, Jaime Reyes, Sam Carter and ‘Jock.’ In the following years, she became very hesitant to keep the company of Anna Navarre, Eva Nadezdha, and Gunther Hermann due to their increasingly violent escalations involving the NSF, to the point of getting innocent civilians in danger or killed. It was during these years that she’d become more critical by UNATCOs methods and authoritative measures.

2052

JC Denton would be assigned to her, becoming his primary augmentation specialist and doctor. After Pauls defection, she’d help him escape UNATCO and was almost killed by Eva Nadezha in the aftermath. After establishing contact with Tracer Tong, she defected as well and soon joined the others in the fight against MJ12 in Hong Kong. After a potential cure for the Grey Death began to be worked on and Tong was infected with the Grey Death, Sam Carter brought her into X-51s fold. With Bob Page dying and JC-HELIOS emerging from the ashes, she joined the early stages of ApostleCorp, trusting him regardless of his new form.

2053-2054

After the stress of her defection, The Great Collapse and otherwise got to her, her body began to rapidly deteriorate. She is placed in Cryo-stasis at the behest of JC-HELIOS.

Relationships

JC Denton

Assigned to be his main nano-augmentations specialist after his first mission and introduction to UNATCO, Lovelace and him quickly bonded throughout the days he was there, having been helped by Pauls talks of him as well as his actions on field. Whenever he came back, she gave him medical items to help him on the field (such as med kits and biocells) hoping he’d come back in one piece and both learned they thought on very similar wavelengths.

She was quick to defend JC against the opinions of others when Paul defected, standing by his side even when she began to get professional issues from pushing back. Once JC himself defected, he was quick to offer her to go to Tong to help the resistance with her offering a gas grenade to help take out Anna after agreeing, even knowing she’d be losing access to her medications once leaving.

Lovelace was the last to go to Tongs laboratory, managing to meet JC there before he left to go back to Hells Kitchen, to which both were relieved to see the other alive and she was happy to see the bomb inside him hadn’t gone off. After Tong became ill with the Grey Death and Sam Carter contacted her, she agreed to move to X-51 to help with the cure, where she would see JC for the last time before he merged with Helios.

Having grown a major attachment to her throughout their time together and rationalizing it in logistics in his new current form, ‘in order to potentially keep her human perspective alive’, JC-HELIOS opted to place her in cryo-stasis once her health declined too heavily.

Paul Denton

Having similar views since she joined UNATCO, they quickly became friends. She respected him heavily and was happy he wasn’t as trigger happy as the others that surrounded them and would listen to reason rather than force when necessary.

Paul was protective over her during their time there, both due to her health and her mannerisms, knowing how often she was walked over by the surrounding higher ups and checked on her in her hotel room at the Ton when he could. (something which caused her to have a small crush on him, which faded quickly).

She was one of the few that trusted Pauls intuition near the end of his time there and was willing to hear him out when he defected to the NSF. She was happy to learn he was alive and that he was getting better after the removal of his bomb once she got to Tongs lab.

He became troubled for her when her health took a turn for the worse after the Great Collapse and helped convince her to go into cryo-stasis.

Jaime Reyes

A colleague at UNATCO, she functioned as the secondary doctor in the Med Bay of the NYC base and became a protege of his. They got along well whilst working together, he was very understanding of her condition and frequently filled in for her when she was unable.

Sam Carter

Someone whom she regarded as a tentative father figure and one of the few she trusted at UNATCO. In the absence of both of their deceased families, they bonded quickly and by the time 2052 came, he had actively been training her in military self defense to make sure she could handle herself in the event it was needed.

After hearing of her defection and being dismissed by Simons, he managed to get in contact with her to bring her to X-51 to help with efforts towards the cure for the Grey Death.

Gary Savage

One of her fathers closest colleagues when he worked at Area 51. After Konrads passing and Adaline constantly being in and out of her life until she passed as well, Savage was the one who funded her life through schooling as a debt paid to her father from the shadows.

Whilst they barely have a personal relationship, he was happy with her progress in life and that she’s used her knowledge for the betterment of humanity after Sam Carter brought her to X-51 to help with the cure for the Grey Death.

Tracer Tong

Someone whom she only barely knows of due to information from her mother, she doesn’t trust him considering the emotional baggage he’s connected to and what he does, but works with him regardless after defecting.

Trivia

• Her official voiceclaim is Salóme Gunnarsdóttir who plays Mary / Maria in SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE.
• Her last name is based off of "Ada Lovelace", who is widely considered the worlds first computer programmer.
• Capable of using both of her legs, has mild rotational issues and chronic pain in her left. Her cane helps with pressure placed on her ankles.
• Her Hermansky Pudlak Syndrome’s symptoms can come and go, it mostly comes in the form of debilitating chronic pain, easy bruising and nosebleeds with stress as a major factor. By the time 2052 comes, her eyesight begins to deteriorate.
• While her mother was for the majority of her life not involved with raising her, Adaline set up measures for her to go to Tong (and by extension, the Luminous Path) in the event someone were to find out she was her daughter and threatened her life before her passing.
