Overview

Jamie Denton was a UNATCO agent who was later persuaded by her brother, Paul Denton, to defect to the NSF. She originated from the West Coast of the United States, and lived there when off-duty.

Appearance

Jamie has a trans identity; assigned male at birth, she expresses herself through a feminine appearance as an adult. She has pink hair, green eyes (unlike her brother), had a large scar across her right cheek. She usually wears a white trench coat, a red corset, tactical cargo pants and military boots.

Personality

She is outdoorsy and enjoys being in bodies of water. Ordinarily, she likes guns and killing terrorists, in her words, she has two neurons--one of which wants a gun, and the other wants a beer. Eventually, she began questioning her orders once her brother started getting involved with said terrorists.

Jamie treats her orphaned status with blunt, self-deprecating humour, often citing it to explain her unfamiliarity with family traditions.

History

Before joining UNATCO, she was a professional athlete, training to become an Olympic swimmer. Her dreams never panned out, unfortunately, because the Olympics were permanently cancelled. This caused her to later develop a drinking problem, becoming an alcoholic with a penchant for gambling. It lead her to end up in unusual situations, for example, becoming plastered and getting married to a random guy in Las Vegas, through which she ended up with the legal surname "Charles". Her brother eventually contacted her, which resulted in her getting back on track with her life. She sometimes does swimming in national competitive events.

Timeline

2050's

During her work with UNATCO, she met Alex Jacobson and Brian "Jock" Flanagan, who were already in a romantic relationship with one another. They both invited her into their open relationship, forming a polycule between the three of them.

Jamie, Jock, and Alex usually spend time together through loosely planned, unconventional activities, such as holding an improvised Christmas picnic on the roof of the UNATCO base. During the picnic, Jamie uses Jock's jacket as a pillow and shoots a bird to serve as their turkey, while Jock is amused by her behaviour and Alex reacts with practical exasperation. Their interactions are characterised by teasing, shared meals, personal anecdotes, casual familiarity, and a tendency to indulge one another's eccentricities, with Jamie usually creating the chaos, Jock encouraging or moderating it, and Alex acting as the more sensible member of the group.

The relationship only lasted for a few weeks, however, as Jock died in a chopper explosion, and Jamie and Alex soon die during the Denton's last stand against MJ-12 at Area 51. She aligns with Tong and destroys Helios along with the Aquinas Hub, ushering in a new technological dark age for mankind. Before her death, she laments on the beautiful impermanence of it all.

Jamie activated her augs and ran though the maze of corridors. Tong was still going on about one thing or the other, still managing to bother her despite the failing satellite network.

Bob had locked the blast doors, and she fiddled with a multitool, her hands shaking as much as the ground below her from a mixture of anticipation and fear.

She almost choked on the night air when the doors did finally slide just enough to let her slip through.

Someone more sentimental might have cried, at their fate and at the fact that they wouldn't even get to see one last sunrise. But Jamie wasn't one those people. She hadn't had a drink in days, and the only thing she could feel right now was the pain in her lungs from all that toxic air she'd inhaled earlier, and a faint burning sensation on her hands from where they'd come in contact with the generators.

Tong shut up, and she knew it wouldn't be long now.

She headed to the cold, burnt, carcass of Jock's helicopter, and sat on the groud by it. There were still ATVs on site, but not a soul was left alive to use them.

She could've taken one, but she didn't see the point. There was nothing left for her out there. No more UNATCO, no more Illuminati, no more orders to take.

"Goodbye Paul." She whispered through her infolink.

And then the world burned in eternal darkness. But Jamie was no longer there to watch it.

"This is Jamie Charles. She is an excellent shot, especially when it comes to tequila. Last week she stole $199 from some dude's bank account. That's on him for writing his account number and password on the same datacube." — kleiner-ghost

• Jamie is an alternative version of canon JC Denton made possible by the The Lay D Denton Project game mod, allowing the artist to create a feminine-bodied playable avatar for their playthrough.
• Her favourite drink is whatever's cheapest. Vodka lemon, or preferably a beer.
• Her creator refers to her affectionately as a "war criminal".
• She has a love-hate relationship with the summer season, not only because it makes her rethink her fashion choices, but because she is also used to heavy rainfall and snow.
• She has no piercings, using the excuse that her nanoaugs will reject them, but in reality, she is just too scared to.
• Alongside her brother, she also has a sister, Jane Denton, a tattoo artist with blue hair, who specialises in fine-line art that resemble nanoaugmentation circuits. An unexpected downside to this was being asked constantly if her real nanoaugs were tattoos, which made her fed up with the profession.
