Overview

Born as Amelia Vaughn, Maia is one of the only remaining survivors of the White Helix labs experiments, along with Adam Jensen.

The experiments resulted in her becoming a child prodigy, however she ends up in stasis a significant duration, her body grew while her mind remained in the same state, robbing her of a normal adolescence and young adulthood.

Appearance

Physically, Maia appears about a decade younger than her age would suggest. Her eyes are quite large, giving her a youthful experience. She has long brown hair, with messily cut bangs framing her face.

She is depicted wearing an asymmetrical red leather Vivienne Westwood jacket, a beige bodice, leather pants with a laced-up design, and knee-high boots.

She also wears a silver necklace with a sapphire pendant, which belonged to her mother.

Now in a grown-up body, which was growing slowly while she was in stasis, she struggles to get used to her new appearance, still getting looks from people when seen, only now it is for a different reason.

Personality

She tends to cling to the past. Emotionally, she attempts to remain level-headed, but can still become moody.

Having always been annoyed at being treated as just a child by many, she does her best to behave as an adult, hyper-conscious of her body language and speech.

Often disappointed by other people's treatment of her, she does not warm up to people easily.

History

Born a child prodigy, she graduated university at 10 years old. Not surprisingly, this made it hard for her to become close with anyone, whether they were those of her own age or those of her own intellectual level. As such she was very close to her parents, and strongly hangs onto the memories of them, also indicated by her wearing her mother's pendant and the perfume she liked, and carrying her father's gun and knife.

Timeline

2028

Adam investigates an energy spike coming from a hidden facility which is rumoured to have some connection to White Helix Labs. That is where he finds Maia, in stasis.

Trivia

• Her preferred weapon, a Springfield XD .45 ACP pistol, belonged to her father. She also carries a Spyderco Tenacious serrated switch-blade.
• The red color choice for her main outfit was selected to contrast with Adam Jensen and prevent her from being too similar to Megan Reed. Blue was also indented for the character design, however, no pieces of art depict this alternative.
