What Are Orphaned Files?

In the context of this archive, an orphaned file is an image that has lost its original source.

These files may be:

 • Cropped, resized, or compressed versions of the original
 • Saved thumbnails from social media platforms or galleries
 • Artworks with watermarks, artifacts, or editing from reposts
 • Fragments or partial images without artist credit
 • Low-quality versions where a better version may have once existed

They are called orphaned because the original, full-quality source has been removed, deleted, or is currently unknown (lost media).

How to Help

Our goal is to preserve and present artwork in its highest quality and most complete form, while also ensuring proper attribution to the original creators.

Contributors are encouraged to help locate and restore the original clean versions, whether from personal backups, other archives, or another source.

To identify an orphaned file for other contirbutors on this wiki, firstly add the following text under the image summary:

ORPHANED FILE: This version is incomplete or low quality. See the [[:Category:Orphaned Files|list of orphaned files]] to help us locate the original.

Which looks like this when implemented successfully:

ORPHANED FILE: This version is incomplete or low quality. See the list of orphaned files to help us locate the original.

And then add the category [[Category:Orphaned Files]] at the bottom to help populate the list of orphaned files below.
