Overview

Kain is an Adam Jensen clone that's in an incestual relationship with him.

He hits the clubs regularly where he works as a DJ and occasional Pit Fighter, hiding half of his face behind a mask that alters his voice.

Appearance

As a clone, he looks just like the original except for a few stylistic choices, such as the lack of a moustache and a different hairstyle.

The author has stated Kain enjoys dying the white lock in his hair different colors, like neon green for the parties he throws during his DJ shifts at the club. It's also stated Adam frosts the tip of his hair to support the themes his brother chooses during the raves.

Aside from that, Kain and his original counterpart don't seem to share any other differences as their mechanical augmentations look exactly the same.

Earlier depictions of the character, however, showed him having only a single arm mechanically augmented, the other one seemingly normal as it was nanotechnologically augmented.

It's unknown if Kain lost this augmentation after the design shifted since the nanites in his left arm were able to regenerate wounds.

Personality

Kain is said to be "supportive, comforting, cerebral, analytical, level headed, calm, controlling, tough, wild, fun loving, untraditional, rebellious, unhinibited, bold, touchy, soft, wary, suspicious, strange, imaginative, open, friendly, confident, self assured, curious, exploratory, outgoing, social, orderly and through."

He also holds no grudges but once in a vendetta will restlessly persecute. He also has abandonment issues.

He doesn’t hold grudges, if he cares about someone; if not, he just ignores the other person. Vendettas on the other hand... He has a lot in mind for the illiuminati agents which attacked him, along with everyone who causes his precious bro Adam pain - be that physical or emotional. He can hunt those people down and rain hell upon them with no second thought, even if Adam doesn’t quite agree with his methods.

Huge abandonment issues. Given that he’s been in the foster system as a child, and a runaway the rest of his years, Kain feels he has never really belonged anywhere; so when he finally reunites with Adam, his biggest fear is that it would be a temporary moment of happiness. He often has illogical, erratic nightmares that Adam abandons him, and can’t bring himself to tell his brother or seek reassurance that it won’t happen.

Timeline

1990s - 2010's

Kain lives in an orphanage. It's unknown how he ended there.

As a youngster, he engaged in street fights that only got worse and more violent after he was augmented.

2020s

At some point he meets Adam Jensen after being persecuted by the Illuminati, where he finds out he is Adam's clone.

They recognize each other as brothers and begin a romantic relationship. Kain is said to be supportive of Adam, even accompanying him during missions while also working as a DJ and/or pit fighter in the clubs.

2070s

At some point both Kain and Adam are cryogenically frozen, where they wake up and meet the Dentons.

Together, they occasionally throw parties after Paul Denton's own de-cryogenicallization, Kain mixing and making music.

Trivia

• Kain is one of the most fanarted original characters in the franchise.
• The author and other fan content creators once complained the character Ivan Berk was a rip-off of Kain when Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's trailer came out.
