Below is a reference guide for formatting pages. A general rule of thumb is to just refer to whatever the Deus Ex fandom wikia does and try to copy it.
Templates & Examples
Images
To use images you need to upload them first. On the right panel of this wiki should be a section called Tools. Under it, in the General section, there is an Upload file link.
Please keep in mind that NSFW images are not allowed on this wiki, however they can be modified to be SFW. Please ensure to appropriately blur or censor explicit imagery from any uploads.
Fanart
To avoid complicated filenames, please simplify the destination filename otherwise it will be frustrating to link back to these images easily when editing a page. For example, when uploading a fanart that has a name like IMG_8389373_83728738.jpg, change the destination name to something like:
ArtistName_CharacterName_ImageNo.jpg
For example, for a piece of art created by the artist Heartspowl depicting the character Iris:
Heartspowl_Iris_2.jpg
Gallery
Each character page showcases a fanart gallery. Galleries are divided by original artist and other artists for easier navigation. Other artists should have a caption that indicates the artist name, like so:
by ArtistName
Tables
Character Info
For character info table, just paste one from another page that already has one. The table is 300px wide, and should always be at the very top of the page, i.e. at the beginning of the text formatting box for the entire page (unless there is a disclaimer info box), otherwise it will not display correctly to the right of the content on the page.
The first row of the character info table must contain the name of the character being discussed, and the second row must contain a headshot image of the character. Recommended size is 256px width/height.
The colors of the table can be modified to show which era the character is from or primarily active during significant events of the canon timeline. Gold is Human Revolution & Mankind Divided (2020's), Blue is Deus Ex (2050's), Purple is Invisible War (2070's). In rare circumstances where a Project: Snowblind OC is encountered, the assigned color is Teal. Some characters may be from alternative universes or spin-offs, in which case the colors should be left unaltered from the original plain template to avoid confusion.

Character Infobox Rows
Below is a list of usual table rows within the character info box and the kind of information that should be displayed.
- Name: The friendly name of the character. If the full name is too long for the infobox (i.e. if they have many middle names), please write it in the Overview instead.
- Aliases: Nicknames, screennames, codenames, etc.
- Born: The birthdate of the character, with the format Month Day, Year (Age at Timeline); for example,
July 16th, 1995 (32 in 2027). If the exact date is unknown, the year will suffice. - Nationality: Country the character holds a passport in and is a recognized citizen. This is usually empty for artificial intelligence or creatures. The country can be linked to the Deus Ex fandom wikia on the relevant page.
- Occupation: Employment/jobs, the most recent on the top, including the years held.
- Height: Preferably both in centimetres and feet, i.e. 160cm / 5'3"
- Weight: If necessary, usually left out if irrelevant.
- Blood Type: If necessary, usually left out if irrelevant.
- Eye Color: Specify whether the eye color is natural or not if the character has augmented eyes that changes the color, i.e. Yellow (augmented), brown (natural)
- Hair Color: Like eyes, can specify whether the hair is the natural colour or not.
- Augmentations: To avoid incessantly long character info table, they are grouped into smaller collapsible sections; Nanotechnological (nanites), Physiopharmaceutical (similar to MiB and WiB in DX1), Mechanical (like an arm prosthetic), Transgenical (weird genetically engineered creatures), and Experimental (for augs/enhancements that do not fit into the aforementioned categories). Under each category, you can define further, such as dividing the section into bodily regions such as Cranial, Spinal, etc. or manufacturer such as Sarif Industries, Tai Yong Medical, etc.
- Relatives: Family members, including adoptive and blood-related. For clones, you can indicate the genetic origins.
- Relationships: Divided into collapsible categories again; Allies and Enemies. Significant relationships with both canon and non-canon characters, most importantly romantic partners, best friends, partners, colleagues, rivals, etc. If it's just an acquaintance, it's probably redundant to add.
- Affiliation: Group or organisation the character is a member of.
- Opposition: Groups or organisation the character is an enemy of.
- Neutral: Groups or organisations the character is neutral towards - this is somewhat redundant, but can be added if it's important to demonstrate.
- Friendly: Groups or organisation the character is friendly towards - this is somewhat redundant, but can be added if it's important to demonstrate.
- Creator: Artist name, linking to their artist page on this website. If you want to link their blog or website, please do so on the artist page, not on the character page.
- Year: Can change the title to Date of Creation if more valid. Follow the same format as the date of birth (see above). Can be left out of the table entirely if it's impossible to locate the date.
- Appearances: Main fictional work the character is featured in. Often the name of the AU or fanfiction they are featured in, although not all creators have done this. In the event of no name, just put a hyphen in its place. Please don't remove it, otherwise there will be added labour in putting it back.
Stuff like gender/pronouns are left out of the table, but if important for the character, please elaborate in the article instead. Overview or Appearance sections are probably the best to describe these details.
Character Article
The usual sections in a typical page template are as follows:
- Overview: Main introduction of the character, usually describing their name, their job or general role within the universe.
- Appearance: Appearance is often the first thing we notice about a person; while the character infobox does provide some details such as hair or eye colour, this section is for elaborating anything else deemed important enough to describe the character physically.
- Personality: Psychological and mental traits of the character, including habits, interests, demeanour. If some of these details are more like fun facts, they would be better placed in the Trivia section.
- History: Character's life or significant events prior to main canon events that the character is active during. Can be split into subsections like the Timeline section.
- Timeline: Character's life or significant events during main canon events that the character is advice during. Usually divided up in subsections such as 2020's or 2050's for a more general date range, a specific date range such as 2027-2029 or a specific year such as 2027.
- Relationships: If needed, significant character relationships with other characters can be elaborated upon here more than just mentioning briefly in the character table.
- Trivia: Fun facts or details about the character, such as their favourite food, name meaning, or some unusual quirk.
- Fanart / Fanwork:
- Gallery: For fanart, create galleries; one gallery for anything the original creator produced, and the second gallery for fanart/commissions from other artists. The original creator work do not need to be credited with a caption, but fanart from others must always be credited to either their creator page, or just their main handle in the caption. Captions can also be used to describe the image or explain something specific about it, i.e. "this is an older design from xxxx".
- Sources: As some characters might be only within a fanfiction or in some special cases, derived from something like a Tumblr rp blog, those can be cited in this section too.
- Playlist: Some artists/creators use music to depict themes and vibes for their work. If it helps or you think it's useful, you can curate a list of music to display here.
Quotations
There is an option of displaying relevant speech as stylised quotes, instead of using boring blockquotes. The colour of the quotation marks can be changed depending on the franchise era, to better match with other elements of the page.
