Overview
Joe "Navras" Mando is primarily known as a DJ at Address: Unknown nightclub. In the past he was part of Shadow Team as an Executor. He is very important and close to Evie Dormer.
Appearance
Joe has a very colourful sense of fashion, and has been seen wearing all sorts of different outfits and hairstyles throughout his life.
History
Joe Mando has always been, in some way, in Evie's life, however distant or close. They've known each other for a long time.
It's heavily implied he's in love with her, a bit too obsessively, caring too much about Evie to such an extent he holds no shame in proactively stepping in her life when he decides he has to.
He has saved Evie multiple times from commiting suicide, and it's revealed in the final page of the comic (that remains unfinished) he was forced to have sex with her by someone named 'Damien', hence the lack of shame for showing himself naked in front of her.
Previous to owning the club 'Unknown Address', he owned another one called 'Lemon-Lime'.
Timeline
2027
Joe operates from the Address: Unknown nightclub as a DJ, his hyperactive and sanguine personality hiding his lethal nature and past.
Evie is still a major focus of his attention even then, and acts a guardian, protecting her quite literally from the shadows using his cloak aug.
When Evie is first attacked by Kratos' goons, he jumps to her rescue unbeknownst to her, delivering a non-lethal blow to the one that was about to sexually assault her. He stealthily leaves once he notices Adam Jensen approaching the scene, muttering to himself "Job's done. Now her true hero may be here soon."
He serves her as calm and supportive person, and usually is the voice or reason that keeps Evie grounded.
Joe notoriously dislikes Adam Jensen and feels like he has to stick around Evie after learning of their experiences together.
Trivia
- Address: Unknown is a Max Payne reference; it is a radio show that plays in the background of the game at times. The Pink Flamingo was a character in one of the episodes, which is why Joe Mando's Address: Unknown t-shirt has a flamingo on it.
- Joe Mando was created out of Nifriel’s frustration with shipping Evie Dormer and Adam Jensen, and from the way other fans explored similar pairings with their own characters.
- In the comic, he goes through many name changes, starting as Chris Sullivan, then becoming Navras until settling with his current name.
